You deserve a fun-filled Easter filled with wonderful times with your family and friends. This is why our orthodontist, Dr. Amy Richter, encourages you to keep your braces in mind while you observe the holiday. Unfortunately, you can suffer problems with your braces if you don’t take good care of them throughout the day. So, to help you have a good Easter with your braces, our orthodontist encourages you to do the following things:
-Avoid chewy and sticky candies: As you have probably already guessed, chewy and sticky candies can pull your brackets from your teeth and even bend and break the wires. They can also cling to your braces and promote cavities. So, it’s recommended to avoid these candies altogether and stick to more braces-friendly candies.
-Wear a mouthguard: Sometimes Easter egg hunts involve oral injuries, especially if money is involved. So, as you’re searching for those hidden eggs, wear a mouthguard to prevent knocked-out and broken teeth and well as a broken appliance.
-Clean your smile and appliance: Make sure to thoroughly clean your braces, teeth and gums after each time you eat. This can help you keep your smile and appliance in the best shape possible. This can also help you avoid dental issues.
